July sees more online job ads posted for KC metro area

There were 25 percent more online job ads posted for the Kansas City metro area in July 2010 than July 2009, according to a report published Monday.

The Conference Board's Help Wanted OnLine survey said there were 6,500 more jobs advertised last month for the metro area than the 25,900 posted in the same month a year earlier.

Drilling down into the local job market, The Conference Board's analysis found these numbers of jobs posted and these hourly pay averages for the different kinds of jobs:

Management/business/financial: 5,638 jobs posted, with average hourly pay of $37.52.

Professional: 10,847; $28.34.

Service: 3,059; $11.80.

Sales and office: 7,545; $16.72.

Construction and maintenance: 1,912; $22.05.

Production and transportation: 2,593; $16.16.
