Enthusiastic job seekers have an opportunity Wednesday to find new employment as the part-time job fair makes its return to the ISU campus.

Twenty-five businesses will be featured in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8.

"The Financial Aid office has hosted a part time job fair for years. We want to help students find employment that are interested in working while they are in college, whether the jobs are on campus or locally," Michelle Cornell, coordinator of student loans and processing, said.

According to Cornell, two job fairs are held on campus each year, once at the beginning of each semester.

"Many employers will be collecting applications on Wednesday; others might just be giving information on how to apply online and what type of positions they have available," she added.

The Marriot Hotel and Conference Center in Uptown Normal, University Housing, the Snyder Corp., UPS, Learning for Tomorrow and Campus Recreation will be some of the businesses featured at the fair.

Rachel Krumm, sophomore marketing major, expressed her interest in many of the businesses slated to be at the fair, adding that she hopes to find a job that can fill her extra cash needs throughout the year.

"I want to find a job that is flexible with my class schedule. I have not had any luck with jobs I have applied to around campus because so many people are applying at this time," she said.

According to Cornell, definitive statistics for students who acquire a job from the fair are not available.

Sarah Reyes, Marcfirst Human Resources representative, said that Marcfirst has hired students they met at the fair and continue to have a relationship throughout the years.

"We have historically participated in the fair. We have a partnership with ISU. We are offering a lot of different positions. It changes daily from full-time jobs, part-time jobs, and substitutes," Reyes said.

In addition, information about the current vacancies and jobs available are provided at the fair, according to Reyes.

The event is open to all students. Information and representatives from each company present will be available throughout the day to speak with interested students.
