Job-seekers have a new online hub to assist them with their job search and find tools to become a more competitive candidate.

Arapahoe/Douglas Works! workforce center has completed a cyber-makeover of its website at adworks.org. The site now has a wide array of new tools and resources on job-search skills, work-readiness, the labor market and more.

Arapahoe County Commissioner Jim Dyer says the makeover is in keeping with the publicly-funded workforce center's mission.

"Logically, the workforce center's website is the best place to begin any job search or recruitment process and find tips, tools and resources on employment in our region," he said.

Among the new features:

A job-search toolbox with tips on resumes, cover letters, job applications, interviewing and networking

An interactive calendar of upcoming events, including free job-search and career-readiness workshops, hiring events, information sessions, computer tutorials and classes

A list of free personality and skills assessments

The option to subscribe to feeds to receive notice of upcoming events, news or and resources

A comprehensive list of job-search sites, along with a regularly updated job board of youth-friendly positions

Extensive industry profiles to give an employment snapshot of 14 leading regional industries

Reports and data on Colorado's workforce outlook

A component called CareerCoach delivers job listings from Indeed.com, a one-stop search engine that collects listings from across the Internet and helps individuals find career opportunities that fit their skill set.

"CareerCoach will revolutionize the way job seekers look for jobs, especially those who have faced layoffs in the recession, by helping them to understand how to upgrade or transfer their skills to a different career," said Joe Barela, division manager at the workforce center.
