Josh Conkle, SnagAJob major account executive, is one of many employees who prefer an unusual seating arrangement.

SnagAJob.com Inc. is planning a major expansion.

The Henrico County-based national online job search company plans to hire about 150 people by the end of 2011, doubling its current employment.

"It's a fairly rapid expansion," said Shawn C. Boyer, the company's founder, president and CEO.

"We've got a number of different large-scale growth opportunities that, to take advantage of, we have got to hire more snaggers," he said, referring to the name given to employees at the company's colorful offices in the Innsbrook Corporate Center.

SnagAJob also is planning to move into a larger space than its current 35,000-square-foot headquarters. Though the company hasn't settled on a new spot, executives said they want to remain in the Innsbrook office park.

About 110 of the new jobs will be in sales, primarily to call upon businesses that use SnagAJob's services to help them recruit hourly employees, Boyer said. The company also will add jobs to support the sales team growth in product development, engineering and marketing, among other departments.

Boyer, who founded SnagAJob in May 2000 in Williamsburg and made his first hire that year, said the business has seen 140 percent revenue growth in the past three years. He said 2009 was a good year for the company, though it didn't grow as fast as before the recession.

"There has been an uptick in employers' recruiting efforts" this year, Boyer said.

The SnagAJob.com website has about 206,000 jobs listed now, up from 80,000 at the same time last year, he said.

The company has about 26 million registered members -- people who are signed up on the site to search for jobs. That's up from about 6 million four years ago, Boyer said.

With about 10 million visitors to the site in October, it was among the top five employment-related websites and among the 350 most visited sites overall in the U.S., he said.

Also, SnagAJob has seen growth in the number of customers using its software that helps businesses manage their recruiting and work-force training and assessment. The company also introduced this year -- and is working to expand -- an online networking service for hourly job-seekers.

"We are set to grow at 50-plus percent levels over the next three years," Boyer said. "Hiring this increased number of people puts us in a position to be able to accelerate that growth."

Greg Moyer, SnagAJob's "chief people officer," said the hiring plans include bringing on more entry-level employees with one or two years of experience, as well as more recent college graduates.

But the company also plans to hire experienced managers to lead its new sales teams. Boyer said the company is looking for employees who are "smart, hungry and humble."

"I think we are prepared to grow at this pace and still maintain the attributes of the company that people appreciate here," Moyer said.

"We are very caring group of people," he said. "We do a lot of social stuff together, and a lot of people are friends outside of the company. We like to have fun, so we mix fun with work."

SnagAJob received the Employer of Choice honor in the midsize category for the second year in a row as part of the Employer All Star awards.

Boyer, the majority owner of the company, said SnagAJob is funding the expansion through its own resources but may seek additional investment next year.

A public offering of stock may be possible in a few years but is not on the immediate agenda, he said.

The company moved from Williamsburg to eastern Henrico in 2001 and then to Innsbrook in May 2006. Boyer said he wants to keep the offices in Innsbrook because "it is so convenient for so many people."

"We love the setting out here," he said. "We are very big on being physically active and being out here lends itself to being able to do that with the running and biking paths."
